The girls
This week has been about communicating with the next generation of young women in my family - my stepdaughter and my nieces. Not only do I get to be a part of their current lives, I am one of the holders of the oral history of our family. LOL I'm probably just the crazy old aunt!!! With the death of my brother a few months ago, my brothers' kids have been great about staying in touch and sharing their lives. Mary and her 3 year old daughter are coming for an overnight visit tomorrow. My niece in Idaho and I are planning a fall visit where I'll get to see her, her husband and their 5 year old triplets again. My niece in England and I are also making the effort to share our lives. My stepdaughter, her husband & baby have just moved to another state so there is a lot to share. I remember in my mid 20s when I finally legitimized my mom as having valid advice LOL! Up until that time I thought I knew everything. Maybe that's what's happening here. I've always been the one that they told things to but never told their parents. Or ran things by to see what I thought their parents would think. It's a sacred trust that I honor. And it makes me feel fortunate to be able to be there for my girls.

Despite all of the recent losses it sounds like you are in a good place in your life.
That is amazing! I am so happy that they have someone who supports them like that.
Lynne - family & friends are what's getting me through it!
Alisha - I'm happy to be able to be there for them!
